Why did we create our own cork lid collection?

Why did we choose natural cork?

In the CraftShop range, you will also find premium wooden lids made from oiled oak and other types of wood. They are ideal for luxury collections.

However, when creating this cork lid line, we were looking for a solution that would allow us to offer excellent value for money to both small and large manufacturers.

Natural cork was ideal for this.

Cork is one of the most sustainable natural materials in the world. It is obtained by removing the bark of the cork oak without cutting down the tree itself. After harvesting, the bark naturally grows back, so the same tree can be used for many decades. For this reason, cork is considered one of the most ecological and fastest-renewing natural raw materials.

We chose production in Europe not only because of quality. A shorter supply chain helps reduce transport distances, CO₂ emissions and ensures a more stable supply of products.

Why use a cork lid for a candle?

Many people think that a candle lid is needed only for a nicer appearance. In reality, its purpose is much broader.

When using a lid:

They were created to order specifically for our glass jars.

Before starting production, we sent the manufacturer original samples of the glass jars, so the lids were adapted to specific dimensions.

Natural material

Each lid is made from natural cork.

For this reason, different lids may have slight differences in texture, porosity or shade.

This is not a product defect – on the contrary, it is a natural characteristic of cork and one of the signs confirming that real natural material is being used.

In most cases, these differences are minimal and barely noticeable to the naked eye.
